CYP 154

It's a new week.  I'm counting down until spring break-2 weeks away!  I'm wondering if I'm even more excited than my students are.

This week's challenge at Craft Your Passion is use ribbons or lace on your project.  I used a lace border punch to make paper lace.

The image is from this week's sponsor-Sugar-Laced-Cottage.  Isn't she cute?!  I attempted a new technique that I read about on Splitcoast Stampers-that used watercolor paper and a aquapen, but my printer ink bled a bit when I applied water.  It's ok for the most part because it added shadows to her dress, but I need to practice a bit more.  Any advice on keeping ink from bleeding would be appreciated.

Link up with your lace and/or ribbon projects HERE.  Ciao!

  1. Hi Kaylee,
I think the blending out of the blacklines gives it a vintagethouch. I like it.

  2. Love the yellow and orange colors here Kaylee - and the lace punched edges on the under-layers is perfect.
You asked about suggestions on keeping the printer ink from running... I sometimes will heat set the ink with a heat gun (this may not work depending on your printer and the specific ink it uses), or if the ink comes out pretty wet, I will immediately put clear embossing powder on the image and then heat it. The good news is that you are right - it all looks like shadows on this image!

  3. This is a very sweet little card.
Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving such a sweet comment. You had asked if I used OMS with my pencils. I tried that once and it didn't really work...not sure why, could be because I only use cheap pencils and not the fancy expensive ones :)
For the bleeding with your card, I don't have too much advice, but maybe try a different paper like the Neenah brand. Your paper may soak up a lot of the water and cause the ink to bleed. Just a thought :)

  4. Lovely image and card. Can't help much with the bleed problem other than suggest different card. Some are better than others. Also, let ink dry overnight after printing as fresh ink runs more than day old. Jx
