Scrap Wrangling

My sister-in-law asked if I could make her some thank you cards.  She is a golfer and has several sponsors that she'd like to thank.  I love any excuse to make cards, so I was all about that.  After I found a sketch, I examined my scrap box.  (All of my scraps are stored in a single-yes, SINGLE-shoebox.)  I've been trying to get the scraps contained for a while.  Going off of OWH's scrap-wrangling and 6x6 tutorials, I set out to use up the scraps.

Here's the thank you cards (I made 2-3 of each):

Then I went a bit overboard on the scraps...

I just mailed a box of cards to OWH 2 weeks ago, but it looks like I'm about ready to mail another one.

This one's my favorite.  Perfect for a guy (or maybe I'll give it to my sis-in-law as well).

This one's my hubby's favorite.  He insisted that I feature it on here.  The googly eyes and silly sentiment crack him up.

And lastly, because I loved this week's OWH sketch:

She is colored with water-based markers and a blending pen.  That's my 1st try at the blender and I think it's alright.  I'd love any tips if you've used blending pens before.

Thanks for visiting today!

CYP 168-Gardens

Happy summer!  This week at Craft Your Passion, the theme is
In The Garden
Can't wait to see your garden/flower inspired projects.  The challenge is sponsored by Heather Ellis, who generously donated the images for the DT to use:

My camera seemed to think spring green is neon.  Sorry, the grass is tamer in person.  I used the Cricut cartridge Paper Doll Dress Up for the trellis, vines, and tulips.  The daisies are on the George and Basic Shapes cartridge.  The paper is by We R Memory Keepers and the stamp is a really old one by Hero Arts.

I'm excited to see some bright garden projects this week, so be sure to link up HERE.

CYP #167 All Dressed Up

It's time for a new challenge at Craft Your Passion.  Wow!  The entries last week were awesome!  This week's a bit tougher though.  The theme is
Let's Play Dress Up
Create a project with an image that's dressed in a costume.  Just like when you played dress up as a kid, your image get's to play pretend.  Stampfairy (this week's sponsor) generously donated Lenny Ladybug for me to use.  Isn't he just so cute?!

I love any excuse to use my ladybug ribbon.  Every time I see the roll, I giggle.  Be sure to stop by Craft Your Passion this week and leave the rest of the DT some love.  Their projects this week are so creative.  I love how even though we used the same image, the cards look so different.

MPC CWC For Men

It's Crafting with Cutters day at My Paper Crafting.  This week's theme is Father's Day inspired.  The theme is
For Men-Masculine Projects

Check out this stud in my scrapbook page:

Yowza!  He's so hot!  Sorry ladies, he's taken.  Ha ha, he would be mortified if he knew that I was talking about him on my blog.  So let's change the subject, hmmm?  I used the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge.  The paper and stickers are by K&Co.  Get some more masculine inspiration from the rest of the DT HERE.  Thanks for dropping by!

TAWS Be Inspired #30

I just love any excuse to get out my TAWS stamps and play.  Their Be Inspired challenge gave me a great reason to have some fun crafting.

I was inspired by the mint and yellow colors of the ice cream, the dark brown of the cola, and the retro feel of the whole picture.  I found some retro paisley and floral paper that I've had for a while.  I hesitated before I cut it up because I didn't want to use up all my pretty paper.  Does anyone else have that problem?  I've had that paper for around 5 years and still wanted to keep hoarding it.  There needs to be a 12 step program for paper lovers...

Last night, I dreamed that I was at the circus and watched a seal balance things on its nose.  So I tried balancing the sentiment on his nose on the card.  My next card will have him balancing birthday presents!

The seal is from Castaways and the "for you" is from Jibber Jabber.

After the seal, I was on a roll.  Plus I noticed that the paper was double-sided and I definitely needed to showcase both sides (since I forced myself to cut it up).  So here's a bonus card using Bird Brain and Jibber Jabber.

You can find TAWS's Be Inspired Challenge HERE.

CYP #166-Dad's Day

It's Monday.  Time for a new challenge at Craft Your Passion.  This week's theme is
Father's Day
I made a card for my dad from my husband and I.  My hubby and dad are really close so I figured the "two" sentiment worked for the card.  We sometimes cause my dad some gray hairs, so when I saw this image I had to use it.  Plus my dad loves dogs and I love cats-it's been a compromise my whole life.

Here's a better look at the sentiment.

Can't wait to see what you made for the men in your life.

Fun with Digis

Just having some fun with digi stamps this week.  Well actually I made this one last week for Digi Haven's butterfly challenge, but never uploaded it to my blog.  Luckily, their challenge this week is Anything Goes, so it still works!

The paper is by Jillibean, image by Birdie Brown, and stamp by My Favorite Things.

What have you been working on this week?

CYP #165-A Dash of Haberdashery

Late post!  Eek!  It's the last week of school, and this teacher is scrambling to get everything ready for summer.  But I took a break to create a project for this week's challenge at Craft Your Passion.  The theme for this week is:
Haberdashery Items
I must confess, I had to consult the dictionary on this one.  It's sewing items-stitching, pins, lace, fabric, buttons, etc.

I picked out paper that reminded me of fabric and then added stitching to the edges.  I saw a cute card that had rounded tabs underneath a sentiment, so I CASEd it, but used buttons instead.  The image is by this week's sponsor-Crafty Sentiments Designs.  She's colored with Prismas and OMS.  I've been practicing my highlighting on images.  I'm pretty happy with how she turned out.

Can't wait to see your take on this week's challenge!

Happy Day!

I won a $75 gift card to My Favorite Things!  I'm so excited to have some new stamps to play with.  Here's some things I've made so far:

This one uses the Inspired by Flowers #4 set.  The paper is metallic gold-it's hard to tell in the photo.  The paper is by Paper Studio and the ribbon by Offay.

This one uses the Inspired by Cowboys and Western Sentiments sets.  The paper is by Basic Grey and the embellishments by American Crafts.

This one was May's free set.  I used paper from the same pack that the metallic floral paper's from.  I'm trying to use up the pack, so I tried OWH's 6X6 challenge with this.  I made 4 cards following this pattern and layout.

I also got one more set that I haven't used yet, but am so excited for.  It's called First Class Friend.  Have you ever seen a more perfect set for OWH cards?!  The sentiments are perfect.  I can't wait to use this one.

Now it's back to card making.  I almost have my next box full and ready to mail.  I'm just waiting on some Anyhero Mail.  Some of my students are far behind on their grades and the last week of school is next week, so I said that I'd give them extra credit if they wrote a letter to a soldier.  So far, I have 34 letters, but Wednesday's the last day, so I'm sure I'll get a lot more this week.

Thanks for dropping by.  Happy June, everyone!
