Uggg...

***If you are Broadway blog hoppin' with Hambo, click HERE.

Sick day today.  Uggg...  I've spent the whole day in a hazy snot filled fog.  Thank you C and J for coughing all over the classroom and not covering your mouths.  I should start teaching every class with a sterile mask on.

Well, I don't know if it's the cranky mood or too much cough syrup, but all my projects this weekend have turned out a bit on the odd side.  They're cute; they're just not quite my style.  Most aren't making it onto the blog.  (Actually, most will probably get redone when I feel better, before they are sent to OWH.  So maybe I'll post them then.)

I am proud to say that my coloring with Prisma colored pencils is still top notch though.  See:

I should've used my coloring skills in my argument with my husband about me driving this morning.  He didn't think I could drive with all the cough syrup I drank.  Actually, now that I think about it, he's probably right.

What do you get when you cross a peacock and a canary?  Probably this guy:

He's got a little bit of a Harry Potter thing going for him.  I think so anyways.  It's time for the Hambo Hoedown and this quirky bird is called Bird Balloon.  When I saw him, I thought, "Awww, he's a peacock.  But where's his tail?"  He's not a peacock after all, but this week's theme is zig zags so I made him a big zig zaggy tail.  Now he's ready to strut his stuff.

Hambo's Broadway Bound Blog Hop!

Welcome to "Broadway Bound," a blog hop sponsored by Hambo Stamps!  Today, the Bacon Bits Design Team and Hambo customers are working together to bring you fun creations inspired by Broadway shows.  If you arrived here from Carolina's blog-Cardolina Scrapolina, then you're in the right place.  If not, you will want to go back to the beginning of the hop at Hambo's blog-Talk to the Ham to see everyone's fun creations.

Hambo will be awarding a prize to one lucky hopper who comments on all the blogs along the way.  Be sure to comment by Sunday, Sept. 23 at 5:00 p.m. CST.  Then check Talk to the Ham on Tuesday, Sept. 25 to see if you're the winner.

Now, on to the Showtunes!  My creation is inspired by the quirky musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers which premiered on Broadway in 1982.  If you are unfamiliar with the play, the basis of the story is that seven disorderly ranch men attempt to woo their lucky seven ladies, but learn that they are not the girls' only suitors.  So the kidnap the women in hopes of winning their hearts over.

The Hambo image I used is "Clare and Danny".  I just love Danny's rolled up pants and too big shirt.  Their sheepish smiles look like they're straight out of the play!  This image is one of the Hop Art Designs images that Hambo has generously announced that proceeds from its sale will help Operation Write Home.  (Can't go wrong with that-getting a super cute image and helping a great cause!)

I was going to make seven cards with this image, but decided that would be too much to see, so I got you a clip from the Broadway musical instead.

Dancing along yet?  Keep on dancing right over to Deborah's blog, Beadin & Stampin for another great Broadway show!

Chipboard Tag

I did something different today.  I made a tag.  It kinda goes against the whole purpose of my blog "104 Cards" doesn't it?  Oh well.  I might actually attach it to a holiday card later-it'd look great with the tag made from chipboard.

Paper and Stickers-DCWV, Music Note Paper-Paper Studio, Flower-Prima, Ribbons-Offray and Karen's Krafts, Image-Sassy Studio Designs, Rub Ons and Buttons-American Crafts

The flower looks a lot more yellow in the photo than it actually is.  It really matches the background of the E in "Noel."  I have no idea why it's color looks so different on film.  The image is a freebie from the Sassy Studio Designs blog.

An Anything Goes Hoedown

Hi card makers!  It's time for another Hambo Hoedown.  This week's theme is "Anything Goes."

Paper-Provo Craft, Image and Sentiment-Hambo Stamps

Super simple card this week.  I was inspired by all those color-blocked dresses that are so popular right now.  So I "color-blocked" the background.  That adorable image is called Panda Gift and can be found HERE.  It comes with three punny sentiments that go perfect with the image.  I cut the sentiment in half and pasted the rest on the inside.  It says, "But how do you wrap a bear hug?"

Hambo's holding a fun customer blog hop starting Friday, Sept. 21.  So be sure to drop in.  I've got the perfect OWH card for it, and can't wait to see what everyone else has created.  Plus there's some candy for one lucky blog hopper-so don't miss it.

Hoedown Time

It's time for the Hambo Hoedown.  I swear that I always wait until the last minute.  I actually missed posting my Hoedown card for the last two weeks!

This week's theme is Splatter:

Paper-Provo Craft, Image-Hambo Stamps

That cute little boy is a Hambo Stamps freebie.  It's called Wee Henry Bongo and can be found HERE.

Doesn't that splatter look great?  That's because I cheated.  My paints are in storage.  Instead of digging them out I used markers.  I just held the marker by the very end and swung the felt tip against the paper to get that droplet look.

Every time I color Wee Henry, he ends up wearing green, orange, and tan or a blue and red combo.  I have no idea why.  So I guess I need some inspiration.  What color combos you like for boy images?

Boys Will Be Boys

Got a couple masculine cards today.  Milk Coffee Stamps has a back to school challenge.  I guess back to school means something different to 8th grade teachers.  This little boy could be any one of the boys in my classes.  Plus I can think of a few who would make that sentiment their slogan.

Here's another boy card.  This boy could be in my class too (I've got some real fun kids as well as some mischievous ones).

Let me know if you have some suggestions for motivating hyper 8th grade boys.
